Course Description: A Diploma in Children's Services is a nationally recognised qualification and enables a person to hold a variety of positions in a range of children's services including Director, Co-ordinator, team leader. Students who complete this course are awarded with a Diploma in Children's Services. Students who partially complete this course recieve a Statement of Attainment. Students can apply for direct credit, recognition or choose an 'assessment only' pathway. Students can gain the Diploma by completing the whole course or upgrade from an existing qualification. Distance Education Nominal Duration: 1400 hours: Equivalent to 2yrs full-time study (Approx. 30mths of part-time study, but may be completed sooner). Students must complete 240 hours of work experience – this can be completed in your place of employment if currently working in a children’s service. Target Group: Existing child care workers wishing to gain an initial qualification or upgrade existing qualifications. Entry Requirements: HSC or equivalent, must be currently working in a children’s service. Assessment Strategies: Strategies vary relevant to AQF level and include short answer questions, case studies, workplace tasks and a workplace project. Course Content: Competencies for this course include all competencies at CertificateIII level and well as the compulsory and elective units at level V. Mixed Mode (on campus) Target Group: HSC school leavers or mature age students seeking a career in children's services.
